The ultimate guide to planning a stress free fall vacation (plus the amazon travel stuff you’ll use)
Summers over, the kids are almost back in school, and honestly? I’m already tired. You know what that means? It’s the perfect time to plan a fall vacation – before the chaos of the holidays hits and while flights and resorts are cheaper.
Fall is seriously underrated for travel. It’s less crowded, less expensive, and just more enjoyable. I don’t know about you, but sweating my makeup off and having frizzball hair in July while standing in line for overpriced snacks is not my idea of a good time. I just wanted cute pictures 🙄.
So here’s how to plan a stress-free fall trip – and yes, I’m including all the Amazon travel stuff we’ve tried (and even the ones I’m still suspicious of).
Why fall is the best time to travel
You know how everything in summer is overpriced and packed, and winter holidays feel like an actual nightmare? Fall is the happy middle. Flights and hotels drop in price, the weather is pleasant, and you can finally see the ground at Disney without someone’s stroller running over your toes.
It’s what we call the shoulder season (or sweet spot). Think the same places you wanted to visit this summer, but quieter, cooler, and cheaper.
5 fall vacation spots you’ll love
Here are my top picks, plus the Amazon gadgets I recommend, and some you guys love (but I don’t get… collapsible water bottles, I’m looking at you).

1. Disney world or universal orlando

Going to Disney in October is 10/10 better than in July. The weather’s cooler, the lines are way shorter, and you can eat Halloween snacks shaped like Mickey! What’s not to love?
Everyone swears by collapsible water bottles for parks… but honestly? That’s when I would be dying for water. I’d rather just bring my normal water bottle and call it a day.
Also – get a portable neck fan, or the ones that clip on your belt. You’ll need a park bag with some sort of organization system going on.
2. All-inclusive resorts (Mexico & Caribbean)
These are my happy place. Unlimited food, beach chairs with actual space between them, and drinks that come with tiny umbrellas. Plus, fall prices? Chefs kiss.
💎 Pack a waterproof phone pouch (because nobody needs their phone taking a swim), quick-dry towels (hotel towels are a trap), and floating sunglasses… just in case you drop them. I can’t personally recommend the sunglasses, though. Mine are at the bottom of the ocean 😩
3. New England
If you want cozy cabin vibes, hot cider, and Instagram-worthy photos of orange trees, New England in October is your girl.
Bring a lightweight jacket that packs down small, a travel mug for the roadside cider, and maybe binoculars if you’re feeling fancy.
4. Europe
Paris without 10,000 selfie sticks in front of the Eiffel Tower? Yes, please. Flights are cheaper, the weather is perfect for sightseeing, and you won’t sweat to death on the metro.
💎 My must-haves: anti-theft crossbody bag (pickpockets are real, guys), universal adapter for outlets, and maybe a luggage scale so you don’t pay $100 to bring home too much junk food.
5. Cruise

Fall cruises are underrated, but they’re such a deal. You get sunny weather, fewer kids on board, and all you can eat without mortgaging your house.
💎Epic Intel – magnetic hooks help with storage, packing cubes of course, and a hanging toiletry bag because cruise bathrooms are… cozy.
Travel Hacks I swear by (and 1 I still don’t understand)
- Book flights bidweek: Tuesdays and Wednesdays are magic.
- Use a travel agent (hi, it’s me, I’m the travel agent): I literally do all the planning, you get perks you didn’t know existed, and it costs you $0 extra. You won’t have to wait on hold with your destination if something goes wrong, I will? For free? 😍 YES!
- Pack smarter, not heavier: I love packing cubes because they keep me from living out of a messy suitcase… but just because there’s room in the bag doesn’t mean you should bring more!
- Portable charger always: Don’t be that person hunting outlets at the airport. Just get a power bank.
And yes, I’m still side-eyeing collapsible water bottles… When is it ever empty?! Someone explain the hype in the comments.
